Uploaded by: johnvfc
Video Description:
This is a sample of Greek Orthodox Byzantine music chanted by nuns in a Monastery of northern Greek Mainland (Hsuxastirio Timiou Prodromou Akritoxoriou Sidirokastrou Serron). The Hymn is an extract from a book called "Theotokario" and it is dedicated to the Most Holy Mother of God (Theotokos, Virgin Mary). It is usually chanted in Greek monasteries during the afternoon (after Vespers).

@rumpranger65 ........its not really a contradiction. its a way for us to learn about life in all its aspects. this is why my theory is that The One God created these extensions as a way to find the path of peace as opposed to the path of wildness. we look at everything and it all begins to be clear. God is teaching humanity through Gods essence in all these dieties.
@acerb45666555 ... ( 3 months ago by rumpranger65)
@acerb45666555 Firstly, there is no rational proof for this. Secondly, the doctrines of the many religions directly contradict each other. One religion teaches God as being something essentially different from another. God cannot have more than one essence. They cannot all be right. This is the law of non-contradiction.

@rumpranger65 One could argue that cultural interferences and prejudices and beliefs of each "messiah" and other interferences twisted the teachings. It could also be said that you are applying finite, human concepts to something that is infinite, and omnipotent.

@Nogrentain If they twisted the teachings then that means they were once true, but are no longer true. So it's still the same thing. Logical axioms are not human concepts but objective truths. Logical axioms hold in all possible worlds. It would also be ironic for God to contradict himself.
@rumpranger65 There ... ( 3 months ago by Nogrentain)
@rumpranger65 There remain truths. We know that at the Council of Nicene, literature deemed heretical was burned, and only four gospels remained. There's a theory that many Pagans that converted to Christianity that became bishops at Nicene took the wrong meaning of the Father, Son, and Holy Father, that it was literal and their viewpoint happened to triumph. Is that to say God contradicted Himself? No, the Bible is purely written by people. Is logic empirical? Is logic only bivalent?
@rumpranger65 ... ( 3 months ago by Nogrentain)
@rumpranger65 Classical logic is derived from a philosophical perspective of physics. They do not automatically apply to an infinite construct, nor would a seeming contradiction in our finite minds truly be a contradiction.
@Nogrentain ... ( 3 months ago by rumpranger65)
@Nogrentain Heretical literature was rightly burned for being wrong. The doctrine of the Trinity is set out very clearly and philosophically by the Fathers. It is in fact almost difficult to understand. It is certainly too precise to be misinterpreted though. The Bible is written by people, and yet is inspired and thus constitutes Divine Revelation. Maybe I'm ignorant but I do not understand what you mean by bivalent. So far the only time I've heard that used is in my chemistry class this year.

@Nogrentain I'm not sure where you heard this, but logic has always been the science of making valid inferences, whether it pertain to physics or mathematics. Logic is in itself an a priori science. As for the second part, your logic is quite faulty. ;-)
@rumpranger65 ... ( 3 months ago by Nogrentain)
@rumpranger65 Assuming all of it really was wrong. Said doctrine could have been misinterpreted as most Pagan beliefs were to take being the Son in a literal sense, as opposed to a figurative sense, and it is those bishops that were Pagans that took their interpretation to be supreme. Certainly, the Bible is inspired, but it was still written by man, and is therefore not perfect revelation. But Divine Revelation it remains.

@rumpranger65 I had assumed by the way you spoke of logic that you had studied it. I'd give you the link but apparently youtube doesn't like that, so I'll message you it.

@rumpranger65 You should read some Nietzsche et al on that perspective of logic then. Certainly, by all means make a statement that I have faulty logic and not go into any detail whatsoever. That is the surefire way to proving you are right. Are you sure that you should be lecturing others about logic? ;)
@Nogrentain I ... ( 3 months ago by rumpranger65)
@Nogrentain I should certainly advise you to use logic, if you are trying to logically prove by the proposition that we have limited intellects that logic is not useful! To use your language, it is almost universally accepted by philosophers that the principle of bivalence is a self-evident truth.
@Nogrentain If ... ( 2 months ago by jmkora)
@Nogrentain If your argument is that the Trinity may have been a Nicene Innovation, you're mistaken. Belief in the Trinity has been held by Christians since the earliest times, advocated by those who learned at the feet of the apostles. "Pagans" don't just become bishops overnight, and there was a general consensus on scriptural canon in the church far prior to Nicaea, as evidenced by the Muratorian fragment.

Forgive me, I mean no offense, but this Orthodox Greek music sounds similar in several ways to the music & chant that accompanies the Islamic terrorist videos we all see on the TV news.
Who copied who, -If anyone ? The vocal inflexions & harmonizing plus the musical annotation are striking.
I'm genuinely curious.

@guthywoodry No offense taken, I've had friends either say that or compare it to the canters in Judaism. Orthodoxy is older than Islam, many of the mosques in the middle east were Orthodox churches, when the Christians were killed & driven off, the Muslims took the Churches & made them into Mosques - Google/Wikipedia "Hagia (Saint) Sophia in Turkey" as an example.

@rumpranger65 ............what kind of "Heretical" literature?? .......to me the Maleus Maleficarum is a heresy! a heresy against the kindness the Christian god wants us to live by! so those two twits who wrote that book should be posthumously excommunicated for the horror they unleashed!=aprox 2 million women and many men too, murdered in a fanatical frenzy of very Un-Christian madness!
@acerb45666555 ... ( 1 month ago by rumpranger65)
@acerb45666555 Quite a statistic. Consider how devastating that would be for all of Europe. Yet, that was not an official Church document, but the document of a couple of inquisitors. When the Church releases an official document that is heretical, then we'll talk.

they got it from the orthodox and judaistic source because we are older then the muslim religion which began from 600 ad until the present due to the explosive aftermath of the council of chalcedon when a lot of monks and patriarchs had difference of opinion on the nature of christ. one of the monks from that council want to force and take revenge against the decision of that council. why is there similarities between the christian, judaisim, and islam. research this a little. the Monk boohayra
